Nice: I wonder: do fledgling Broad Bills (males) start out with black beaks or are they red beginning with the growth of fledgling/juvenile plumage?

All fledglings begin with a bhint of orange at the base of the bottom bill. AS the males grow, their bill reaches its reddish color during the first year. The soft bills of the fledglings also have 'stretch marks', or a corrugated look, that diminishes during the birds' first year
