Currently birding with friends in Texas and New Mexico. Had some wonderful sightings of these birds. I will look for the pink facial skin of the young thanks for that hint.
Very informative post. The title of Meiburg's book prompts me to mention a most enjoyable book about another "Remarkably Bright Creature(s)" - a novel by Shelby Van Pelt featuring an octopus. Loved the book, and looking forward to the film starring Sally Field set to be released on May 8 by Netflix.
