Thanks! There is so much unknown in the natural world and what we are learning is fascinating. Scientist's conjecture that the sapsucker's sap has some kind of 'anticoagulant' in it. When scientists drill into the same trees, the sap will congeal, but not when the birds do it. It's just fascinating. https://www.birdnote.org/podcasts/birdnote-daily/sapsuckers-and-sap
