Congrats on the new yard bird! We usually get a couple of them passing through here in Portal. The Hooded nests on our house! And the beautiful Scott’s nests behind us on the hill, comes in for the oranges we put out. Can’t do jelly or oriole feeders due to the bees. They take them over!
Beautiful bird and what a nice surprise and addition to your yard birds! Thank you for posting the photo of the feeder as I was wondering how it was different from a hummingbird feeder. Also, now I understand why I see the more common hooded oriole each year at this time perched on the hooks holding my hummingbird nectar. They are likely hoping I’ve added a feeder that can accommodate their larger bills! Thank you for sharing your photos and knowledge.
