Than you Jeffrey. You can still donate to my Birdathon team before May 19th at this link: https://tas.app.neoncrm.com/np/clients/tas/donation.jsp?campaign=128 Be sure to list my team name on the very last line, just before the "submit" button. The team name is "Birdies, Bogeys, and Eagles". Thank you very much
Thanks, Patty. And the colors and variety of the hummingbirds in Central America are just stunning compared to these. You should hang up a feeder outside your home to be able to draw the Ruby-throated hummingbirds in your neighborhood!
Dan, Great post and photos. Thanks for the range maps and comparison of these two "big hummers." We see the Rivoli's at 7000 feet during the summer on Mt Lemmon, but I cannot remember seeing the Mountain Gem. They are tough to photograph, you have done a great job!
Gorgeous - What a great capture. the blue is stunning. I am leaving in a couple weeks for the Southwestern Research Station in the Chiricahua Mountains with the Desert Museum. I'm super excited. Hope I get to see these little/big guys!
Big birds! One of the photos of the Rivoli hummer reminds me of the jump of a ballet dancer
Thanks!
They, the dancer and the hummingbird, are both so graceful and seem to float weightlessly in the air.
Thanks for the wonderful photo series.
Thanks Randy
Love the HBs! And kudos to you and your fundraising team!
Thank you Sally
Fast but effective with beautiful piks! Thanks! How can i donate to audobon tucson or to your credit for roundup you did several weeks ago?

Very interesting. I had no idea Hummingbirds could be that big or colorful!
I tried last summer, but no hummingbirds ever found it 😕
LOL. You might give it another try this summer. At some point, one of them is going to find it and then they’ll tell all their friends.

Dan: at what speed did you shoot these photos to freeze the bird in flight? Great photos - exquisite!👏🙏👍
Jeffrey, Thanks Jeffrey. The flight shots of the hummingbird were taken at 1/4000 of a second. That's pretty darn fast!

Thanks Henry. It's always a treat to see these birds and capturing images of them are special. Hopefully you'll get yours this summer too!
Beautiful!
Thank you Marge!
Well done, Dan!
Thank you Michele
Incredibly beautiful! What a treat!
Thank you

Thanks Jennie. You are going to have a great time. Those hummingbirds will be at the feeders at the station!
