Seen at Ash Canyon Bird Sanctuary in the Huachucas
That handsome fellow must have eaten his strawberries (or maybe got a hold of some red skittles packed with red dye #2)
Perhaps. He sure looks red. Carotenoids can be yellow, orange or red but the birds change those to red. Just one more magical thing that nature does!!
Loved this!
Beautiful photos, as usual - Thanks!
Thanks Patricia.
Excellent post, wonderful photos.
thank you
We tend to overlook House Finches because they are so common, but they are very pretty birds. Nice photos, Dan!
thanks Michele
Nice shots. I've got House Finches that look the same here in Ottawa, ON, Canada.
I love it when they are so bright red
Wish I'd been there
Next time Steve!
