This post reminds me to ask if you are still doing the Raptor Free Flight as the Desert Museum?

I love the colors in the photo of the Northern Harrier and your porch owl is adorable!

This is the last week of this year's Raptor Free Flight program at the Desert Museum. I'll get a half year off but did sign up to do it again beginning in October. It's great fun. My porch owl says "hello" to you!

Such amazing shots of the owls! You have such an appreciation for nature and its creatures. So nice to be able to enjoy the experiences you photograph. Thank you for sharing

Thank you again for the Bird Notes, I really enjoy them. We have a pair of redtail hawks that nest in the area, I don't know if they are the same pair every year and I don't know where their nest is, but we watch them with the binoculars when they are flying and perched in the top of a very tall tree on the side of an alfalfa field. We see then more than we hear them, but so enjoyable either way.

What a nice bird to be able to see so regularly!

A delightful array of beautiful raptors!

Thank you.

Do you see falcons here?

Dan Weisz's avatar

Thanks Patricia. The many American Kestrels we see are all falcons. During the winters we can see Peregrine Falcons and Prairie Falcons in the right areas. And Crested Caracaras are another falcon species that is here in southern Arizona

Very interesting narrative. I especially was taken with the photo of the owl whose head was turned 180 degrees.

Thank you Shelly. That was an interesting look at that Great Horned Owl
