I just love Gambel’s Quail! Once when I was out walking, a group of little ones somehow mistook me for its parent and followed me home! I was frantic that they would die in my front yard. Thankfully a rescue group came and got them later that day.
I grew up in Phoenix and moved to Nebraska in 2007 when my wife was stationed at Offutt Air Force Base.
My parents, both Arizona natives, followed us out there and one Christmas while looking for a unique gift for my dad, I came across the idea of a taxidermy Gambel’s Quail.
I will never forget the tears in his eyes when he opened it on Christmas morning.
