Beautiful photos. Actually among my very favorites of your photos. Great clarity. And dragonflies. Beautiful backgrounds. All exceptional with a great post, too. What could be better? BTW, I would see both Black Phoebes and Say's at Agua Caliente, even though the article you referred to said that they rarely compete for food.
I looked through some of my "journal" photos and found that they both were hunting near the water. Not surprising as that was where the flying insects were most abundant. They both could be found at the top of trees and medium sized bushes near the various ponds, and on the edges of the ponds. However, in general, it appeared that there were more photos of the Black Phoebes sitting lower in the bushes, or directly over the water on vegetation, than the Say's. Not always, but in general, more photos of Say's sitting higher in trees a little farther away from the edge of the ponds (though still close by). However, they both seemed to keep closer to the ponds there. (PS I was looking for, and did not yet find, my photos of the Black Phoebe dining on a dragonfly, but I am quite confident your photos are much better!)
Nicely done by both you and the Phoebe.
We both thank you Sally!!
Amazing!!!
Thanks Jennie

Thanks Debra. I wonder whether the Black Phoebe did more hunting near the water while the Say's were more on the edges of grass and desert.
